Frequently asked questions

When is the IPO allotment status out?

On the allotment date, usually one working day after bidding closes. The registrar normally shows the status by the evening of that day, sometimes the next morning.

How do I check my IPO allotment status?

Open the registrar’s allotment page (linked in the table above), choose the IPO and enter your PAN, application number or demat account ID. You can also check on the BSE and NSE websites.

What happens if I don’t get shares?

The money blocked in your bank account is released, usually within one working day after allotment. Nothing is debited.

Why didn’t I get shares in an oversubscribed IPO?

When the retail category is oversubscribed, each winning application gets one lot, chosen by a computerised lottery. Applying for more lots does not improve your chance; applying from family members’ PANs does.
